Pictured here is me, Sara Young, with our daughter, Addison.
I am enthusiastically pursuing my passions in art and photography in Traverse City, MI. I have taken 18-months of professional photography courses through the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, as well as a variety of art courses at numerous colleges and private institutions over the last 20 years. I would love to help you out with your photography and artistic needs.
I was born in Panama City, FL, raised in Martinez, CA, and attended the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT in 1999, graduating in 2003 with a B.S. degree in Marine Environmental Science and a commission as a U.S. Coast Guard Officer. The Coast Guard assigned me as an engineer on a Polar Icebreaker where I made scientific trips to both the Arctic and the Antarctic (taking thousands of photos). Thereafter I was stationed in Alameda, CA where I worked in the Marine Environmental Safety Field and earned my M.S. in Environmental Management from the University of San Francisco. In 2010 I left the Coast Guard after 7 years of service to be a full time mom to our beautiful daughter, Addison. I am currently living in Traverse City, MI (where my husband serves as a Coast Guard Helicopter Pilot) and am pursuing my lifelong passions in art and photography part time while we raise our 3 year old daughter.
